Hi everyone - looking for some advice.

I have never thought to give a tip (ie: money) to either of them. We're in a recession. Report Reply. My advice is to give him a nice card with maybe a chocoalte or a small box of chocoaltes.

She will run over our garbage cans when she comes here to deliver mail, and she will snap a nasty attitude if you have a request of her. They have never lost a package. I might put a little bag of cookies or something in my … He brings us all the postal bins we need and trust me that’s a lot. Today there were 87 of them. I’ll give you a ‘thumbs-up’ for being the most eccentric regular contributor, Lee. That’s my Christmas ‘tip’. They make a lot more than I do, so I wont be tipping them.

Just keep it to yourself. He goes out of his way to help us get our orders out on time so in our minds he earns every penny and more. Our mail lady is actually nasty… She’s really terrible.Lately a man has been coming once a week instead of her, which is good. Everyone loves chocolates. My father was a mailman for years and around Christmas time he would bring home tons of gifts. Mayhap I’ll leave him something.Your post about the mail lady painted a funny and vivid picture in my mind.Honey, get the kids and dog in the house! I could've googled it but i was surprised he put in the extra effort. Besides, then he'll feel bad he didn't get you something and it just goes on and on. Typically you don't tip mailmen, or bus drivers, or give them gifts for the holidays. I know it's all apart of his job but he works his ass off and I just want to show I appreciate how well he does it.Bottle of booze.

Our regular carrier provides extraordinary service and is a trusted part of our team.I bake a fresh little loaf of pumpkin bread and time it so that it is piping hot just when he arrives… I give it to him with an Amazon gift card on Christmas eve.My carrier once in a blue moon will mis-deliver a piece or two of mail, but aside from that does a great job.

That and maybe a coffee shop gift card. Maybe a handwritten note this year that says "Hey guys, thanks for picking up all the carpeting, furniture, big ass boxes, and construction debris you probably shouldn't have while we were remodeling this sumner".How do you know they drink? I don’t give her anything, and she doesn’t deserve anything. I also have a great fed-ex guy and a great UPS guy. She’s always friendly, never complains about all of the incoming and outgoing parcels (as long as she can fit it in her SUV, she’ll take it, no qty limit), will deliver my mail to neighbor when I’m out of town, will hold mail when on a short trip w/o requiring the official paperwork, etc.

She goes above and beyond and gets a treat of some sort every year. We give the mailman $20 each year. And as many of my shipments as the general workers have mangled or lost, I would like to give some of them a kick in the pants. If anybody attempts to say it is some violation for Postal workers to accept gifts, they can go suck a lemon. Our mail lady is actually nasty.

I deal with them a lot more than I deal with the carriers.i gave mine $30 cash for xmas…she’s constantly having to get out of the truck and run up to my door with packages…and I probably under-tipped!ALWAYS have given cash…didn’t even know about the supposed rules, but they can arrest me if they want.I always make sure to HAND it to her in case there is a substitute working on any given day.to me, that’s a rule meant to be broken, and MY carriers have never complained On the other hand, sometimes i think this country has gotten a little tip-crazy…why is the mail person any different than the guy that rotates your tires or the guy that fixes your furnace? He picks up packages for me and makes an effort to weed out mail directed to previous tenants. I had a question about international shipping via USPS and he didn't know the answer off the top of his head and gave me the answer the next day. Move the cars!

So, I don’t plan on giving the mail carrier anything. However, I did get 3 gift cards for Starbucks and gave them to the clerks at the Post Office. The once a week sub, though, doesn’t do a very good job of delivering (delivers items to wrong house often, erratic schedule, etc) so she doesn’t get anything.
